 11am What is a vegan wine?

Host Kelli Coxhead – The Wine Shop, Winscombe

This is a question is asked more frequently and many are surprised that wine made from grapes could in fact not be vegan. While tasting through vegan wines we will talk about the wine making process from vineyard to bottle and discover what hard work goes in a making a bottle wine and answering that all important question!

Host Jane Awty from Oatley Vineyard, Somerset.

Iain and Jane Awty, of Oatley Vineyard, gave up corporate life in London to plant a vineyard in Somerset. 30 years on, their dry white wines have an enviable track record of international awards, and this year a Gold Medal.

They moved from NW6 to Oatley on Michaelmas Day 1985, in a car filled to the gunwhales by 3 small children, a collie dog, 2 cats, 2 rabbits and a tortoise, to follow a dream.  Hear their story and taste their wines

1.00pm Thatchers Cider

Thatchers Cider is now a well known Somerset Cider producing family, this talk will go through the history and progression of cider along side tasting some of their more boutique styles of cider!

2.00pm Domaine Bousquet, Argentina

Host Eclio Dumon

Come and meet Eclio from Domaine Bousquet the worlds most awarded organic winery. In his presentation he will address topics as the origins of Argentine wine industry, the evolution of it during the 1990’s by the skilled hand of French, Spanish and Italian winemakers, and the impact of exports in the world during the first to decades of the XXI century. Eclio will also cover a brief analysis of the Mendoza terroir and its unmatchable conditions for organic production, to finally wrap with the history of Domaine Bousquet and its unique winemaking style.
