Do want a qualification in wine?

The Wine Shop are now an approved programme provider for the The Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET)

The WSET is globally recognised as the international standard in wine and spirit knowledge. They are designed for those who are just starting out in their careers, as well as established professionals, and the many enthusiasts who have a passion for wines and spirits.

Level One WSET

Level one is a great introduction to wine, you will learn the main types and styles of wine, common grape varieties, how to store and serve wine. Along side this you will also discover wine and food matching, what works and understanding why.

Theory is all very well however, tasting wine is really where a greater understand comes in and this is why we learn how to describe wine using the standard Systematic approach to wine tasting (SAT).

The Course Structure.

The course includes six hours learning

At the end of the session you will sit a 30 question multiply choice exam – Don’t panic! Everything you need to know to pass is given throughout the day.

You will get to taste at least 9 wines throughout the day. These wines will of course be relevant for your learning to allow the theory to come alive in practice. For the full specification click here

Venue

The venue is the Railway Inn at Sandford, upstairs in “Stans Barn” A light lunch will be provided for you by the kitchen at The Railway – Dietary requirements are required prior to the day.
