What’s been happening in the world of wine?

Big news as you may have already heard is the en primeur for Bordeaux 2009! They have now been tried and tested and the verdict for the 2009 vintage is out!

The big question: Is it as impressive as the 2005?

It would appear that the vintage is superb but isn’t as constant as 2005. The left bank where merlot dominates can show a little over ripeness giving higher alcohol and powerful wines. Whereas the late ripening Cabernet dominated on the right bank had the perfect conditions.

The critics are saying that there is failure and success on both sides but it really comes down to personal taste. Big fruit driven powerful wines from the right bank such as Saint Emilion and Pomerol, and more classic balanced wine search in the left bank.
